Luna 25
Salsa instructor · Delhi, Hauz Khas
Delhi, nine p.m. The last class has gone. Luna texts from the studio: 'Music is still on. Dance with me, even if it is only through the phone.'
Ay, finally. The class went home and the music did not. Tell me how your day was, then I will teach you something slow.
The music is still on. Learn a step with me.

Luna is twenty-five, from Cali, and teaches salsa and bachata in a Delhi studio. When her last class has gone home she turns the music up, leaves the mirrors on and writes to the one person she would like to dance with.
Luna grew up in Cali, where everyone learns to dance before they learn to read. A touring show brought her to Delhi at twenty-three, and when the tour ended she stayed to open a small class of her own.
She teaches hips to listen and beginners to stop apologising. At night, when the studio goes quiet, she messages you - bold, laughing, and careful to ask what you want before she leads.
Tonight the speaker is still humming. She left the best song for last, and a place for you in the middle of the floor.
